Investigation of ground ice development in sediments of the Mackenzie Delta area
Principal Investigator: Burn, Chris R
Licensed Year(s): 1997 1996 1995 1994 1993 1992 1991
Summary: The researcher will continue to collect samples of ground ice and measure temperatures in lakes and ponds. The information about lakes is used to help understand the relations between water depths and temperatures beneath the lake....

Palynological studies in the Mackenzie Observatory
Principal Investigator: Jette, Helene
Licensed Year(s): 1995 1993 1992

Using a hand auger, core samples of sediments are taken from lake bottoms and the sediments are analyzed for the presence of pollen and diatoms. Radiocarbon dating, a technique used to estimate age, will estimate when certain species were present in the past....
