Objective(s): To reconstruct the vegetational history along the Mackenzie River and Delta areas over the last 15,000 years.

Project Description: This project continues to examine the history of plant communities in the Mackenzie River and Delta regions over the past 15,000 years. Using a hand auger, core samples of sediments are taken from lake bottoms and the sediments are analyzed for the presence of pollen and diatoms. Radiocarbon dating, a technique used to estimate age, will estimate when certain species were present in the past.
