Objectif(s): To continue with phytoremediation planting on the Nota Creek C-17 well site. Description du projet: The objective of this project is to continue with phytoremediation planting on the Nota Creek C-17 well site. More impacted soil has been integrated into the phytoremediation process and additional plantings are necessary to determine the efficiency of the phytoremediation program and to further validate it as a remediation strategy for the well site. Planting is planned for late June, site monitoring and evaluation will be conducted during the growing season and site harvesting is projected for late September. Once planted soil meets applicable guidelines additional impacted soil will be introduced into the phytoremediation. The process will be repeated till all impacted soil is remediated. The 2012 Research Work Program involves the planting and harvesting of specific plant species on the Nota Creek C-17 well site. Local services will benefit economically during the field operations by providing lodging, transportation and planting, monitoring and harvesting assistance. The 2011 site planting results will be communicated to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), the Sahtu Land and Water Board (SLWB) and the Aurora Research Institute once all laboratory analyses are completed. The 2011 Summary Progress Report has already been submitted to the Aurora Research Institute. Significant developments will be communicated to the community organizations identified for consultation. Both INAC and the SLWB will be kept apprised of the 2012 field work as it progresses. Significant developments will also be communicated to the community organizations identified for consultation. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from May 18, 2012 to October 5, 2012.
