Équipe de projet: To be identified locally

Objectif(s): To examine the growth and decay of ground ice in near-surface sediments of the Mackenzie Delta area; to determine the climate gradient between coastal and inland locations in the region in order that the effect of coastal retreat on regional climate change may be understood; to determine conditions causing the formation of shoals in lakes on Richards Island.

Description du projet: The researcher will collect samples of ground ice in near-surface sediments and measure air, ground and lake temperatures. The information will be used to help understand how the permafrost in the area has changed in the last few thousand years, in order to determine what might happen in the future.
