Objectif(s): to deploy and recover subsea sonar instruments to measure the motion, thickness and ridging of sea ice; to repeat a survey of seawater temperature and salinity properties in the Beaufort Sea in late winter;

Description du projet: Dr. Melling and his research team will continue to study ice in the Beaufort Sea. Sonar instruments will be deployed at two locations, will operate at 50-80m depth and be recovered in April, 1991. They will also survey seawater properties at selected sites offshore. This is the eighth year the seawater survey has been conducted in the Beaufort Sea in late winter.
