Objectif(s): The purpose of this thesis research is to examine the role that Donald Marsh, the second Anglican Bishop of the Arctic, had on development of northern social policies specifically regarding wildlife management, education, health care, and family welfare. With the analysis of his published material, archival documents from the National and Church archives, and interviews with elders from Aklavik and Inuvik, the research will examine the degree to which Donald Marsh advocated for Inuvialuit and Gwich'in interests. This research will attempt to record the interpretations Inuvialuit and Gwich'in elders have regarding this period of their community's development.
