Objectif(s): The objective of the proposed program is to establish baseline environmental conditions pertaining to air, water, and sediment quality, aquatic resources (fish, fish habitat, plankton), and terrestrial resources (plants and animals). Traditional knowledge will also be gathered to help refine the field studies and to document environmental conditions and areas of concern to local communities. Information gathered during the field sampling will build on existing information and will be used to : 1) Assess environmental changes that may occur due to bulk sampling operations and; 2) Establish background environmental conditions for comparison with monitoring data to be collected in the future.

Description du projet: The objective of the proposed program is to establish baseline environmental conditions pertaining to air, water, and sediment quality, aquatic resources (fish, fish habitat, plankton), and terrestrial resources. A total of nine different protocols will examine the aquatic environment of Snap lake and another reference lake. Details of the fish, and fish habitat sampling plan may be found in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans research permit for this project. Additionally wildlife research details can be found in the Renewable Resources and Economic Development (RWED) wildlife research permit for this project. The vegetation study will include a literature review of plant distributions and a field inventory. Air quality studies will include evaluation of air quality impacts, collection of weather data and evaluation of noise emissions and impacts
