Objective(s): To complete the fish contaminants, benthic and fall water quality programs in the Marian River.
Project Description: The objective of this project is to complete the fish contaminants, benthic and fall water quality programs in the Marian River as detailed in the Supplemental Baseline Monitoring Plan. Water samples for laboratory analysis will be collected at least 15 cm below the water surface by hand directly into the sample bottles (EC 2012). Sample bottles and caps will be triple rinsed prior to water collection. One field blank, one trip blank, and one duplicate field sample (for a total of three samples for the entire program) will be collected for the water quality program. Samples will be collected, preserved and analyzed as per standard methods and quality assurance and control procedures (i.e., ALS Group). This program is known to communities as it is part of water license requirements and has been discussed in the Tlicho communities. The program is small and of short duration. Results will be made available to individuals and communities upon request. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from September 22, 2016 to September 30, 2016.
