Project Description: This study is designed to find out whether contaminant levels are changing in fish in the Northwest Territories. We hope to collect lake trout from Great Slave Lake (Lutsel K'e and Hay River), Cli Lake, Great Bear Lake, and Colville Lake, burbot from Great Slave Lake (Fort Resolution and Lutsel K'e), northern pike from Great Slave Lake (Fort Resolution), and cisco from Great Bear Lake. Community members (chosen by the local RRC) will be hired to collect fish for this study. Communities will be kept informed of the progress of the study. The researcher may visit the communities to discuss the study and present results from previous years. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from September 1st, 2009 to December 31, 2009.
