Objective(s): Following an environmental impact assessment of the Cameron Hills Gathering System and Facilities in 2001, the National Energy Board (NEB) and the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board (MVLWB) granted approvals to Paramount Resources Ltd. for construction of a gathering system in Cameron Hills and a transborder pipeline from the Cameron Hills south into northwestern Alberta. The MVEIRB, NEB, and MVLWB attached measures or conditions to their respective approvals. Among these were requirements for the implementation of a summer program consisting of post-construction vegetation and permafrost monitoring. As the gathering system was constructed during the winter of 2001-2002, the summer monitoring plans must be implemented in the summer of 2002 to comply with the approval conditions. Preliminary well pad locations and flow line routes must be assessed prior to commencing site construction and drilling activities. As part of this biophysical assessment, an aerial survey and site reconnaissance for wildlife will be conducted.
