Objective(s): To conduct a consecutive two year environmental baseline program which will adequately describe the natural environment (including seasonal variations) of the key valued ecosystem components in the study area; collect and prepare environmental and socio-economic information in such a way that satisfies various governmental regulatory agencies and would be defensible in professional and public forums; and collect an environmental data base to subsequently base to subsequently plan for and implement appropriate mitigation measures fo the life of the project.
Project Description: The researchers will be involved in a mult-disciplined, integrated and focused series of investigation regarding water quality, hydrology and climatology, fisheries, aquatic, wildlife, vegetation, soils and terrain, and heritage resources. Taken with complementary socio-economic, traditional knowledge and environmental management investigations, this data will be used to prepare an environmental evaluation of the Aber/Kennecott diamond project.
