Objective(s): To continue the study begun in 1991; to clarify the relationship between a Baffin community and the formal school system; to learn in what ways community members influence the school so that the school develops the ability to reflect the community; to provide information to the community which will assist Inuit in managing change in their schools.

Project Description: The researcher will revisit Arviat to continue her study that was initiated in 1991. She will examine how the people of the community interact with the formal school system in order to assess different approaches to schooling and different interpretations of concepts basic to schooling. Interviews will be conducted with the Community Education Council and members of the community.
