Objective(s): To document the location and nature of Inuvialuit heritage sites located in the regions of Thrasher Channel, Napoiak, Big Jim Channel and Horseshoe Bend; to document this information as a means to preserve Inuvialuit oral history.
Project Description: The researcher and guide/translator will travel the Mackenzie Delta regions of Thrasher Channel, Napoiak, Big Jim Channel and Horseshoe Bend to find the locations of camp and hunting sites, as well as cabins and legendary sites, that may be important to Inuvialuit history. Traditional place names and land use will also be recorded. Information will be obtained from elders who are living out on the land.
