Objective(s): Objectives are to: (1) develop an understanding of physical processes operating across the ocean-ice-atmosphere interface; (2) link these processes to both geophysical and biophysical features of this interface; and (3) develop methodologies by which these characteristics can be measured remotely using current and near future remote sensing technologies.
Project Description: The primary objective of the research is to characterize the physical processes of the ice/ocean/atmosphere interface and to develop the capability to measure the pertinent variables using remote sensing data. The operational monitoring, which can be provided by done using satellite remote sensing, is a necessary prerequisite to understanding the impacts of C02-induced warming of the ice-covered regions of the Canadian Arctic.
