Objective(s): To develop an understanding of physical processes operating across the ocean-ice-atmosphere; to link these processes to both geophysical and biophysical characteristics of this interface; to develop methodologies by which these characteristics can be measured remotely using current and near future remote sensing technologies;
Project Description: The Researcher and his team will measure various aspects of snow covering the ice surface through the seasonal transition from winter to summer. The observations will coincide with overflights of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) remote sensing aircraft and various satellite sensors. Observations from the ice surface will be correlated with information contained within the remote sensing data.
