Objective(s): To continue work started in 1987; In 1991 to: complete installation of tubes to monitor solifluction processes in the three study areas of Black Top Creek, "Big Slide Creek" and Hot Weather Creek; inventory any new active-layer detachment slides; examine the micromorphology and structure of earth hummocks; retrieve temperature data; continue monitoring of 3 retrogressive thaw slumps; locate sites suitable for future monitoring of fluvial sediment transport.
Project Description: The Researchers will continue work to understand how the climate influences the activity of processes that move sediment down hillsides. The aim of the project is to establish links between climate and the activity of geomorphic processes so that predictions can be made about the possible impact of any climate change.
