Objective(s): To combine oral history and archaeology in order to better understand traditional land use in the interior region of southern Baffin Island; to provide an opportunity for members of the community of Cape Dorset to be directly involved in the study of their past.
Project Description: Begun in 1990, this project will continue to investigate the traditional land use patterns in the interior region of southern Baffin Island by combining oral history and archaeology. A survey will be conducted to record the exact locations, sizes and types of camps found along the trail. The information will be used to reconstruct the basic form of interior land use patterns and how they have changed over time.
