Summary: Snow plays an important role in northern ecosystems. When it melts in the spring it is responsible for significant floods, for increasing the amount of moisture in the soil and for refilling lakes and ponds. This ongoing study will look at the role that snow plays in controlling lake and stream levels as well as the transport of nutrients and pollutants to both tundra and forested regions....
