Objectif(s): to measure spatial and temporal coherence of ionospherically propagated signals over broadside receiving antenna apertures of up to 10 km; to apply the measured residuals amplitude and phase errors to the estimation of limits imposed on antenna beamwidth and sidelobe level as a function of coherent (Doppler) processing time and conversely, the limits on Doppler processing time imposed by extended antenna aperture

Description du projet: Mr. Morris will conduct an experiment to explore the limitations imposed on antenna size due to the propagation medium. Long range antennae that "see" beyond the earth's curvature provide advanced notice of approaching targets.
