Objectif(s): To develop a profile of the requirements of social work supervisors in western Canada and to better assess training and education needs.
Description du projet: The objectives are to develop a profile of the requirements of social work supervisors in western Canada and to better assess training and education needs. Advertisement and snowball sampling will be used for recruitment. Supervisors will be asked to complete a survey questionnaire and they will be asked to select a typical week of work and complete an activity log. In the activity log different types of work tasks are coded and the supervisor will take a few minutes each day to enter the activity codes. The survey and log are available electronically. In addition, if a sufficient number of supervisors are interested the research team plan to conduct individual interviews and run a focus group in Yellowknife. The data, quantitative and qualitative will be analyzed and used to prepare a report, training material, and journal articles. The research team will provide feedback which may be helpful in service delivery. There may be later opportunities for training though this is difficult to determine at this stage. A report will be distributed to the professional association as well as any government or non-profit organizations that may be interested in the work. All participants will receive a copy of the results once the analysis is completed. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from May 5, 2015 to December 31, 2015.
