Description du projet: The objectives of this component of Healthy Foods North are: 1. Capacity building for community members and students in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, data collection and community engagement, with the practical learning applications being facilitated through HFN. 2.Capacity building, training and education for communications through presentations, outreach, and results dissemination, at the local level and potentially for academic publications. 3.Training specific to data collection and analysis. This would include 24 hour food recalls and food frequency questionnaires to collect information on diet and traditional eating habits, physical activity measures, socio-economic information, and use of process evaluation methodologies for the various community interventions in stores, workplaces, with the media, etc. 4.Demonstrating how data sets can be analyzed and used in practical applications, such as in the design and evaluation of community programs and how this process truly meets the needs of the community. 5.The training team will provide specific, detailed and comprehensive training, certification and support over the next three years, as part of the Healthy Foods North project. 6.The development of a non-credit course titled Research Methods for Health and Wellness, in collaboration with Aurora College. Healthy Foods North will train community outreach workers to collect data in their home communities on healthy food choices, cooking and preparing food, and what constitutes a healthy diet. Participants who successfully complete their Healthy Foods North training will earn a certification from Aurora College. The communications of this component of Healthy Foods North will be shared with all communities, partners, funding agencies and organizations involved in this program. This component of the program will encourage and support local community members, students and all others to provide on-going feedback to Community Corporations and Hamlets and any/all other interested organizations. This information will go out regularly to local and regional media (as appropriate), oral and written presentations and materials, newsletters and other publications, and the Healthy Foods North website. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from March 3rd, 2010 to December 31, 2010.
