Objectif(s): Imperial Oil Resources Ventures Limited, Aboriginal Pipeline Group, ConocoPhillips Canada (north) Limited, Shell Canada Limited, and ExxonMobil Canada Properties are continuing baseline studies begun in 2001 as part of the Mackenzie Gas Project. Local knowledge and technical/scientific research, in combination with a synthesis of existing technical information, is being used to develop a suitable knowledge base for planning, assessment of impacts and development of environmental protection plans. This portion of the project will involve several helicopter flights for the purposes of pipeline routing, site selection, and geotechnical observation within the Sahtu Settlement Area. Route and site selection flights will be used to: (1) determine the optimal location for a potential gas gathering system and pipeline route; (2) determine the optimal locations for proposed facility sites; (3) determine the optimal locations for infrastructure sites, roads, granular resource sites and potential revegetation test sites; (4) visually inspect and confirm land forms and geotechnical features; and (5) identify land features that may be important to the location or construction of a potential gas gathering system.
