Objectif(s): The objective of this program is to carry out aerial reconnaissance and preliminary site investigations, topographical aerial mapping, and surface reconnaissance in the general vicinity of the proposed route for the Mackenzie Gas Project. Aerial reconnaissance will be used in the preparation of subsequent regulatory applications and will form the database to be used for future geotechnical programs. Aerial reconnaissance will be used to collect baseline information; collect site information for proposed 2005 field trenching trials; identify gravel sources; and study routing and route access options. Air photos of the entire route will be collected and will be used to prepare topographic plans of the various sites. The surface component of this project includes a bathymetric survey of potential water sources and information collected will be used to identify water sources to be accessed during the construction phase. Environmental and archaeological evaluation at the proposed field trenching sites will take place and is required to evaluate the route and develop plans for long-term remediation.
