Objectif(s): The objective of this long-term ongoing programme is to monitor glacier health and climatic change in the high Arctic by measuring the mass balance of four ice caps, including the South Melville Ice Cap in the western Arctic islands. This requires measuring the amount of ice accumulated or melted in summer, and the amount of snow that has accumulated in winter at several poles drilled into the ice. This work is also part of a larger programme studying climate change.
