Objectif(s): This research deals with fluvial erosion in the Arctic and subarctic tundra, especially with fluvial activities in tundra-valleys during summer rainfalls. The observations and data will, together with the long-term data of the Inlands Water Directorate,

Description du projet: The researcher will measure discharge, run-off velocity, sediment load, dissolved load and microclimate parameters (air and ground temperatures, relative humidity, evaporation, precipitation and radiation) in small valleys of James Creek. They drive to the location in a 3/4 ton truck which is parked in an abandoned quarry near the road. They walk to their data collection sites. The observations and data will, together with the long-term data of the Inlands Water Directorate, Environment Canada, be used to determine fluvial activity in the Arctic and subarctic tundra. This data will be compared to similar work done on tundra in Greenland, Alaska, Iceland and Lapland.
