Objectif(s): The project will look at the effectiveness of created fish habitat within the on-site Panda Diversion Channel. Assessments will include fish use, invertebrate use, stability and function on a seasonal and yearly basis. Assessments will include the collection of fish (all to be released live), macroinvertebrates, the identification of habitat features, substrate assessments, and hydrology and hydraulic data collection. Standard sampling collection techniques will be used for the various fauna (ie. electrofishing, surber samplers and flow meters). All assessments will be completed within the Diversion Channel and Grizzly and Buster Creeks within the mine site. BHP will provide support staff which will include people hired locally.
