Objectif(s): To document the location and nature of Inuvialuit heritage sites in the Eskimo Lakes area; to document the decision-making process for traditional land use; to document the various aspects of traditional technology; to test a training program that is designed to provide some of the basic skills and information to northerners so they can conduct or assist with heritage projects arising from oil development initiatives.

Description du projet: The traditional knowledge project is funded through NOGAP and is provided to the Heritage Centre for devising means for dealing with the impacts of oil development on Inuvialuit heritage resources. We are also developing and testing a training program that can provide northerners with skills and information required to assist with projects on traditional knowledge. Training involves learning how to document elders' knowledge of a variety of subjects.
