2004 Summary:
The purpose of this project is to identify the factors that promote or retard forest regrowth after seismic line cutting. Little was known about tree regeneration on seismic lines until the 2001-2003 study by Seccombe-Hett and Walker-Larsen, which showed that older lines were well-stocked but that the delay in coloniziation might be caused by dramatic subsidence and resulting water-logging.

Summary:
Following environmental impact assessments, the National Energy Board and the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board granted approvals to Paramount Resources Ltd. for the construction of specific infrastructure within the Significant Discovery Area. Atta...
Principal Investigator:Trindade, Mariana Licensed Year(s):
2003
Summary:
This study examines (1) the regeneration dynamics of White spruce in the Mackenzie Delta and Black spruce on seismic lines; (2) the potential for seeds to disperse on snow; (3) pollen dispersal; and (4) pollen production. Study sites in the Mackenzie D...
Principal Investigator:Gal, Ruth Ann Licensed Year(s):1993
1992
Summary:
The researcher and her team will glean physiological rates and relationships for tree growth from the literature and substitute the data into a functional model, which will be calibrated against intensive sampling within WBNP over dry, mesic and wet landscapes....
Principal Investigator:Harmsen, R. Licensed Year(s):1991
1990
Summary:
The Researcher and his team will collect data on plant size, flowering, seed production, survival and for greenhouse germination experiments. Wire enclosures set up in the previous summer will be remapped....
