Objective(s): To study and describe rocks exposed in cliff sections along the Brock and Hornaday rivers.

Project Description: The main goal is to upgrade the geological knowledge of an area that has not been studied since the late 1960s. To the research team will study and describe rocks exposed in cliff sections along the Brock and Hornaday rivers. Work will involve thickness measurements of sedimentary layers (strata) and detailed descriptions (including photography) and collection of small (half fist-sized) rock specimens. The research team will also deploy small box-sized geophysical instruments for up to a few hours to analyze magnetic properties of the rocks. In previous work, based near Ulukhaktok, the research team held a community meeting to show results. The research team provided copies of maps that are produced and copies of posters highlighting the results of this study and the involvement of local community members in this work. The research team will meet with community groups and intend to return to Paulatuk in March/April 2015 to report on findings thus far and to share proposed plans for summer 2015. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from August 1, 2015 to August 31, 2015.
