Project Description: The objective of the study is to determine: the best access for a drilling and development location on Richards Island, which lakes may be suitable for water withdrawal, and geotechnical baseline conditions along a proposed pipeline corridor, proposed gas conditioning facility location, and possible quarry site. The bathymetry program will use a portable zodiac and bathymetry equipment to assess the area. The geotechnical program will use hand-held augers to assess the surficial materials to a depth of 1m along a proposed pipeline right-of-way, proposed facility location, and potential quarry (near Crooked Lake). The site will be accessed daily from Inuvik. The HTCs in the three communities will be notified of the program start and ending dates, and consulted for feedback. A local wildlife monitor will be employed for the duration of the field program. The study will be conducted at Mallik Bay, the Beaufort coastline just outside of Mallik Bay, Dennis Lagoon, Harry Channel, and on Richards Island.
