Objective(s): The purpose of the study is for the communities most affected by Diavik Diamond Mine Inc.'s mining operation to be able to assess the quality of Lac de Gras fish before, during and after mining operations. The primary focus is the quality of fish for eating. Community members will catch fish, prepare them for eating and evaluate the quality. Community members will also record standard biological information on each fish collected. In addition, fish caught but not consumed will be opportunistically used for scientific analysis. This analysis will include metal content, metallothionein, texture analysis and analysis using an electronic nose.
