Objective(s): This work is being done to assist with the development of a future aquatic effects monitoring program for the mine that will meet the terms of the recently promulgated federal Metal Mining Effluent Regulations. The survey data will be provided in support of a water licence renewal for the CanTung Mine. The objective of the study is to conduct a preliminary fisheries/benthos inventory at one location upstream of the CanTung mine site and at two locations downstream of the mine site. The research will determine sex, length, weight, and age of fish species and will determine benthic invertebrate abundance and taxonomic composition at the same sites.
