Objective(s): The objectives of the research are to examine how increasing active layer depth, surficial geology, vegetation, slope and aspect impact changes in shallow groundwater and surface stream chemistry in two subbasins of the Daring Lake basin in the headwaters of the Coppermine River basin. The study will examine the hydrological interaction between rainfall and response times in stream discharge and storage in two study basins. Stable isotopes will be utilized to separate changing source waters to basin surface discharge and to assist in compiling hydrological balances for the basins.
