Objective(s): The objectives of the proposed research in the Slave River Delta for the 2001 field season are to install water level recorders at various sites in the Delta, so that changing water levels can be recorded and compared to changes in wind speed and velocity (recorded in the outer portion of the Delta). The information collected in the proposed study will be used to determine how the creation of seiches in Great Slave Lake impacts the flow of water in the channels of the Delta.
Project Description: The research team will be based in Ft. Resolution. Transportation includes aircraft from Toronto to Edmonton to Hay River. Transportation in the field will be by truck and boat. The research team will operate from a base camp previously established on Steamboat Channel (a camp we originally established in 1977 when this work originally started). Water level recorders will be established at six sites in the Delta, basically duplicating the instrumentation plan from the past year. The water level recorders will be taken out of the Delta in October of 2001.
