Objective(s): The project will assess the need and desire for a culturally based FAS/FES workshops and programs to be targeted to the future mothers and fathers of the Inuvik community. The project began under the Brighter Futures initiative in the Inuvik community. The need for such a project is supported by Dr. Godel's recently released study of school children in the Inuvik area.
Project Description: Data collection methods will include an Internet literature search, a review of materials from previous workshops, and a questionnaire for both professional persons and organizations and the general population. Information will be used to produce a plain language report and a pamphlet in Gwich'in, Inuvialuit and English. This information will be presented at a community meeting where possible plans for future workshops and programs will be investigated.
