Objective(s): This permafrost study has been part of a long-term study first initiated in 1951. The researcher will collect data that will allow a better understanding of the growth of the ice wedges, pingos and permafrost.
Project Description: The researcher will continue studies on the origin of permafrost, the ice found within permafrost and processes that help to create the present geocryologic environment. These studies will be conducted on Garry Island, Illisarvik, 20 km southwest of Tuktoyaktuk and at Paulatuk.
