Objective(s): To study different people's "ideas" of "North". Provide information on differing and sometimes clashing views of the "environment" and how it is treated. Also study attempts to integrate indigenous nowledge with western knowledge (GNWT's response to the Traditional Knowledge Working Grp; BHP's, EIS) and to ask questions about the successes or failures of these attempts. Different views of "North" come from these different world views. The success or failure of attempts to integrate them may set the stage for the social, industrial, and environmental future of the North - and all of Canada.

Project Description: Want to interview people to discuss their ideas of "North" and of the possibility and consequences of integrating indigenous and western knowledge systems. Also conducting some archival research in the Yellowknife library.
