Objective(s): To record energy which has traversed as deep as the Asthenosphere (may be as deep as 200 km below the Earth's surface).
Project Description: This "Deep Probe" seismic refraction experiment will record energy that is as deep as the Asthenosphere (may be as deep as 200 km below the earth's surface). The experiment makes use of very large explosions that will generate seismic waves of sufficient power at low frequency to tranverse these great distances.
