Objective(s): To collect and record Inuit Place Names of geographical places and features of the South Baffin area (south and east of Cape Dorset, Lake Harbour, Frobisher Bay, Allen Island).
Project Description: Students at Inuksuk High School, as part of their Inuktitut curriculum work, will conduct interviews with local elders at the Iqaluit Research Centre. Interviews will be transcribed into syllabic script by the students under the supervision of their teacher Shuvinai Mike. Interviews will be subsequently translated into English. Information will be publicly accessible and stored at the Iqaluit Research Centre.
