Objectif(s): To identify the extent of contamination, from atmospheric deposition, of fish from this region.

Description du projet: Fish (most likely Arctic charr) will be obtained either by purchase or by individual collection to analyze for chlorinated organic industrial compounds, pesticides and mercury. Few of these contaminants were ever used in the Arctic. They have been shown to travel to the Arctic through the atmosphere and accumulate in lake sediments and in fish tissues. An attempt will be made to relate the level of contamination to age, size or type of fish.
