Objective(s): To understand the stratigraphic relationships of Carboniferous and Permian strata in the Sverdrup basin, in the Canadian Arctic; and to evaluate the resource potential (oil, gas, minerals) of these rocks.

Project Description: Field work consists of measuring stratigraphic sections on Northwestern Ellesmere Island, using a 1.5 m Jacob's Staff. Samples for lithology, paleontology and geochemistry will be taken at interval. This will be done to gain an understanding of the stratigraphic relationships of the Carboniferous & Permian strata in the Sverdrup basin and to evaluate the resource potential (oil, gas, minerals) of these rocks.
