Objective(s): To explore how the Community Education Councils (CEC's) of western NWT communities operate as collectors of educational concerns of parents and other interested individuals and groups; to examine how the CEC's dispose of Items of Concern, how frequently various types of concerns arise, and what importance the CEC's attach to these issues. The study will be conducted in communities served by the Sahtu, Deh Cho, South Slave and Dogrib Boards of Education.

Project Description: The researcher will ask Community Education Councils (CEC's) of communities served by the Sahtu, Deh Cho, South Slave and Dogrib Divisional Boards of Education to complete questionnaires. Data collected will include where Items of Concern come from, what the CEC does with these Items, how these issues graded in terms of importance, and how often these issues arise. Results of the study may assist the CEC's and Divisional Boards in their work.
