Objective(s): To enhance communication among producers and consumers of country food, public health agencies and scientific researchers on: (1) the presence and nature of contaminants in country food; (2) the risks associated with consumption of said foods; and (3) alternative options and strategies where continued consumption is a significant health risk, in an appropriate cultural and social context.

Project Description: To develop effective, appropriate communication strategies on contaminant issues with Inuit communities requires an understanding of how Inuit now view the problem of contaminants and how they identify their information needs. Three communities will be visited in order to conduct semi-directed interviews with consenting individuals from the communities, including harvesters, elders, women, youth and professionals.
