Objective(s): To determine the commercial potential for developing groundfish and shellfish fisheries in the vicinity of Broughton Island. This project is under the direction of the Baffin Region Sub-Committee for Fisheries.

Project Description: The Baffin Regional Sub-Committee for Fisheries is examining the economic potential for the harvest of groundfish, scallops, crabs and shrimp in the Broughton Island area (from Cape Mercy to Cape Hooper). As part of a larger multi-year project directed by the Sub-Committee, this research will provide estimates of the types and numbers of fish and shellfish that may be available for harvest. From this information, a fisheries plan may be developed.
