Project Description: This project will involve the collection of data on the harvest of walrus in the Foxe Basin area. Measurements will be taken on the walrus harvested and tissue samples will be collected for the purpose of assessing contaminant levels in tissues. Hunters from Igloolik and Hall Beach will be trained in sampling techniques and the local Hunters' and Trappers' Associations will be contracted to carry out the sampling program. DFO will monitor the hunts.
