Objective(s): To collect lake sediment cores for paleoclimate records; to study evidence for glaciation by Foxe Basin and Labradorean ice dispersal centres; to collect relevant material for radiocarbon dating and other geochemical analyses.
Project Description: The arctic has an effect on the climate experienced in the rest of the world. We are attempting to understand how climate and the growth (movements) of glaciers influence each other, both in the present and during the last 20,000 years. We will be taking samples of sediments from the bottoms of lakes as these sediments contain information about changes in climate.
