Objective(s): To develop models of basin evolution using stratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy and sedimentology; to refine the Cretaceous and Paleogene environmental history and biostratigraphy of the Eastern Canadian Arctic with palynomorph biostratigraphy and paleoecology; to locate and independently date using fossils and paleomagnetism the first example of the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary in Arctic Canada;

Project Description: The Researcher and associate will collect samples of shale and sandstone from cliffs. They will be taken to Memorial University to be analysed for their remnant magnetization. This research applies in regional correlation studies of marine and terrestrial strata and in site specific studies of the geologic development of this part of the Arctic.
