Objective(s): To develop models of basin evolution using stratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy and sedimentology; to refine the Cretaceous and Paleogene environmental history and biostratigraphy of the Eastern Canadian Arctic with palynormorph biostratigraphy and paleoecology; to locate and independently date using fossils and paleomagnetism the first example of the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary in Arctic Canada;

Project Description: Dr. Burden and his associate will continue the study of the geology of Cretaceous and Tertiary rocks on Baffin and Bylot islands. They will collect oriented samples of shale and sandstone from cliffs measured and sampled for palynology 2 years ago.
