Objective(s): to continue to train Inuit researchers and field assistants to carry out toponymic surveys in Keewatin settlements; to carry out toponymic surveys in the communities of Rankin Inlet, Chesterfield Inlet, Baker Lake, Coral Harbour, Repulse Bay and Pangnirtun; to submit all names to the Executive Council of the Northwest Territories for approval; to publish a gazetteer, atlas and other materials relating to the study

Project Description: Dr. Muller-Wille and his team will continue to interview people in some Keewatin communities to record the oral history of the original names given to their communities. They will also train northern assistants to continue this work throughout the Keewatin.
