Objectif(s): to describe the new role of "native educator", based on the experiences of northern native people now working professionally within the educational establishment; to make this information available for professional training of native educators; and, to evaluate the effects of such cultural awareness applications for both native and non-native teacher education programs
Description du projet: Kathleen Okpik (Pangnirtung) and Peesee Pitseolak (Lake Harbour) will be interviewing other native educators. They will ask questions like: How did you become a teacher? Why do you like to teach? How did your training help you to become a teacher? What did training not teach you? What role should Inuktitut have in school programs? The answers to these and other questions should improve education and teacher training.
